Safety

Both the new SQ5 Sportback and AMG GLE Coupe have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The new SQ5 Sportback has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The AMG GLE Coupe’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The new SQ5 Sportback has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The AMG GLE Coupe doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The new SQ5 Sportback’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the AMG GLE Coupe.

The Audi new SQ5 Sportback offers an optional Top View Camera System and it also offers an optional rear camera washer to make backing always safe, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Mercedes AMG GLE Coupe doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the new SQ5 Sportback and the AMG GLE Coupe have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The new SQ5 Sportback’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the AMG GLE Coupe’s (12 vs. 5 years).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Audi new SQ5 Sportback uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The AMG GLE Coupe requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

Transmission

The new SQ5 Sportback offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The AMG GLE Coupe doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

Tires and Wheels

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the new SQ5 Sportback can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The AMG GLE Coupe doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the new SQ5 Sportback’s turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the AMG GLE Coupe’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

Chassis

The Audi new SQ5 Sportback may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 to 1050 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG GLE Coupe.

The new SQ5 Sportback is 9.6 inches shorter than the AMG GLE Coupe, making the new SQ5 Sportback easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the new SQ5 Sportback’s rear seats recline. The AMG GLE Coupe’s rear seats don’t recline.

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the new SQ5 Sportback has a standard rear wiper. The AMG GLE Coupe doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The new SQ5 Sportback has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The AMG GLE Coupe doesn’t offer headlight washers.
